This Privacy Policy describes how YT Translate ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website, mobile applications, and API (the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Definitions
- Personal Data: Information that identifies or can be used to identify an individual, such as email address.
- Technical Data: Information about your device and browser, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use the Service, such as pages visited, actions taken, and time spent.
- Non-personal Data: Data that does not identify you individually, including aggregated or anonymized information.
1. Information We Collect
- We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate the Service: your email address (if you subscribe to notifications), technical data required for YouTube API integration, and usage data for analytics.
- Personal Data is used solely for launch notifications and is never used for marketing purposes.
- Technical and usage data are collected to improve the Service and are not linked to individual users.
- Data related to Google authorization is not stored after your session ends or the page is closed.
2. Google API & YouTube Data
We use Google OAuth 2.0 authorization to access the YouTube Data API v3 on your behalf. We request the following scope:
- youtube.force-ssl — allows reading and managing your YouTube channel content (videos, captions, localizations)
What YouTube data we access:
- Channel information: channel ID, title, thumbnail URL, uploads playlist ID — to display your channels in the app
- Video metadata: video IDs, titles, descriptions — to show your recent videos and manage translations
- Captions: subtitle tracks and their content — to use as source material for translation
- Localizations: existing video title/description translations — to avoid overwriting your existing translations
How we use this data:
YouTube data is used exclusively to provide the translation service. We do not share YouTube data with third parties, use it for advertising, or combine it with data from other sources.
Data retention:
- Channel metadata (channel ID, title): stored while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Video content (titles, descriptions, captions, translations): stored for a maximum of 30 calendar days after the translation is completed, then automatically deleted
- OAuth refresh tokens: stored in encrypted form (AES-256-GCM) while your Google account is connected, deleted immediately upon disconnection
Revoking access:
You can revoke our access to your YouTube data at any time:
- Through our service: use the "Disconnect Google Account" command in the Telegram bot. Your data will be deleted within 7 calendar days.
- Through Google: visit https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions and remove YT Translate. Your data will be deleted within 30 calendar days.
Data obtained via Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
3. Third-Party Services
We use third-party APIs and analytics tools that may collect technical information:

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to improve the Service. You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings.
5. Log Data
In case of errors, we may collect log data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, date and time of use, and other technical information. This data is used only for diagnostics and service improvement.
6. E-mail Notifications
If you subscribe to launch or update notifications, we will use your email address only for this purpose. You may unsubscribe at any time.
7. Data Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of all your data at any time.
How to request deletion:
- Use the "Delete my account" command in the Telegram bot
- Send an email to [email protected]
Deletion timeline:
- If you request deletion through our service: all data will be permanently deleted within 7 calendar days
- If you revoke access through Google Security Settings: all data will be permanently deleted within 30 calendar days
What gets deleted:
- Your user account and profile information
- Connected Google account credentials (encrypted refresh tokens)
- Linked YouTube channels
- All video translations, captions, and related data
- Billing history and payment references
- Language preferences and settings
After deletion, this action cannot be undone. Your data on YouTube itself (uploaded translations, captions) will not be affected.
8. Data Protection
We implement industry-standard security measures (such as encryption and access control) to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the Service. Some technical or non-personal data (such as public video identifiers) may be retained to improve the Service.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA. Please contact us for details.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or prominent notice on the Service.
